BATIK is an Art

Batik came from Javanese term "nitik" or making dots to form motifs on a piece of textile.

Batik itself is a term of textile coloring process using wax resist technique.

This technique consists of several steps including: Nembok, Mbironi, Nglorod etc.

The patterns are drawn on a fabric using a small tool called canting, a wooden or bamboo pen with liquid wax container in the end.

Since such never-ending process in batik making the price of a piece of batik is very costly. The more complicated pattern or motif in batik cause the longer the process will take and the price will higher as consequence.

For that reason batik instead of drawing a pattern on textile by hand then the pattern been made by using a stamp, a piece of pattern consist of thinly sliced bronze formed in certain batik pattern. Then the textile will experience the same technique of coloring process. As a matter of fact the making of this stamp is art of its kind since several slice of bronze are meticulously placed that required highly skilled person to be able to do so.
